As part of the 2024 Australian Population Association Conference (APA), we are organising a DEMO-ECR (Demography—Early Career Researcher) symposium as a pre-conference event to be held at Flinders University (Adelaide).

The main objective of this symposium is to create a relaxed and welcoming environment where junior researchers can share their works-in-progress and thoughts with their peers.

All demography and population studies fields are welcomed, as are all related areas of social sciences. Theoretical and empirical papers on, but not limited to, the following topics are encouraged:

  • families,
  • fertility,
  • sexual and reproductive health,
  • internal and international migration,
  • mobility,
  • ageing,
  • life course,
  • inequality,
  • health,
  • historical demography,
  • mortality,
  • and methodological approaches.

This will be an opportunity to present without worries, free from the pressure an ECR might feel at big national or international conferences. Come and join the network of DEMO-ECR!

To participate, please submit an abstract before 16 September 2024 via the 'Register now' link.

Please direct any questions related to the symposium to Francis Darko or Agung Yoga Asmoro (Flinders) or Brian Houle (ANU).

This event is a joint initiative of the School of Demography at the Australian National University and Flinders University.
